A rare combined Go to Bed and wick pricker made from whale bone. This item is well decorated with scrimshaw work, consisting of coloured lines, dots, leaves and the name Barclay which was the name of a whaling ship which operated from 1793 until 1859. The owner and maybe the makers name E W King are also engraved, along with Mass, probably standing for Massachusetts, where the boat operated out of.
The base has a striker section for the wax match to be lit which could then be placed in the top.
It measures 9.8cm h x 3.2cm w.
