A rare 18th century oak and brass kettle holder as illustrated in Pinto's book, plate 141. These devices because of their insulating properties, were used for lifting metal handled kettles and irons which were being heated over an open fire.

This oak holder is well turned with lovely brass hinges. It measures 11.5cm l x 7cm w when opened out 3.2cm.
