An early 1800s flame mahogany puzzle book box. The carved spine divides into two and slides off. This allows the flame mahogany pannel to slide off, so that special items can be stored in the box.
The centre of the book has been painted in a mellow gold to make it look like the pages of a book when closed.
This is a great piece with beautiful figuring, colour and patina.
