This is a Georgian mahogany wine bottle slope or cradle. These were made from the late 18th century designed to hold a bottle at an angle which allowed the sediment to settle in one small area. This also allowed for the easy drawing of the cork and preventing movement which would disturb the sediment. There is a minor repair to the rim of the drip tray. The semi circular apron at the front end of the cradle is to prevent drops reaching a table or table cloth.

This one measures 32.5cm l x 12cm w x 11cm h.
