An early 1800s nutmeg grater, carved from coquilla nut in the shape of an acorn. The top unscrews to reveal the grater, which in turn unscrews for storage of nutmegs.

Intricately carved all over.

These pocket nutmeg graters were used to grate fresh nutmeg into mulled wine amongst other things.
