 A Georgian mahogany wine bottle slope or cradle. These were made from the late 18th century designed to hold a bottle at an angle which allowed the sediment to settle in one small area. This also allowed for the easy drawing of the cork and preventing movement which would disturb the sediment.This example has a  semi circular drip tray at the front end to prevent wine dripping onto the table

This one measures approx 33cm l x 12cm w x 11cm h.
