A Georgian mahogany extending candle stand with lead weighted base. Brass side handle unscrews to allow a small brass rod inside the mahogany stem to move up and down. These candle stands were originally made for candle sticks to be placed on top of and by extending upwards the light could be kept constant as the candle melted.
