This is a great small Georgian tea caddy with lots of attributes.
Firstly is is veneered with flame mahogany. The lid has geometric inlay in contrasting woods enclosed in a cross banded border of mahogany.
It has its original lion face handles, a working key and stands on four compressed bun feet.
Inside the lid is lined with the original velvet. It has a one piece lid with original handles, made to look like two lids, which lifts off and fits exactly into the velvet lid when the user is wanting to access the tea compartments.
Remnants of the original lining still remain to the underside of the lid and to the compartments, which were used to place the tea in.
It is an unusual size being smaller than most double tea caddies.
It measures 16.5cm w x 9cm w x 8.5cm n.
