A Georgian Mahogany cased explorers compass. This compass comes in a hinged case, with good early diamond shaped hinges.It has a paper dial and a blue pointer needle with North and South at either end and a small stop or locking pin which keeps the needle in position when on the move. There are the owners initials to the outside of the lid J G D.
